vegan almond, apricot body lotion

The spring is coming and I was really in need of a new body lotion. With the change in temperature I finally can use a lighter one with a lower percentage in lipids.
This lotion is based on 25% lipids and 75% water.
As base lipids I used almond oil, apricot kernel oil and avocado oil.
Almond oil is a very diverse oil that suits to every skin type, especialy sensible and irritated skin.
The benefits of apricot kernel oil are very similiar to almond oil. This oil suits also to all skin types. It is fast absorbing on our skin and so perfect for simple and light cremes and lotions.
Avocado oil  promotes the cell regeneration in our skin. It's perfect for very dry and barrier-damaged skin.
Besides I also added shea butter and mango butter. Sheabutter is helps dry and also barrier-damaged skin. It gives, like mango butter, the cream a smoother texture. Mango butter is slightly lipid balacing.

My recipe is made for 300gr. Please make sure to have a super clean working space. I deinfect all my working tools and place them on paper sheets or a fresh towl.
Next to the ingredients you will need a thermometer, spatula, mixing glasses ( you can also use empty jam jars ), cosmetic container and a hand blender.

 lipid phase
  • 15 gr almond oil
  • 26 gr apricot kernel oil
  • 8,2 gr avocado oil
  • 8 gr shea butter
  • 4 gr mango butter
  • 13 gr xyliance ( emulsifier )
Place the mixing glass in a clean pot filled with water. Give the ingredients for the fat phase in the glass. Stear and let them melt. Heat the oils up to 75

water phase
  • 213 gr distilled water
  • 0,6 gr xanthan gum ( make sure to get the version that you don't have to dissolve in glycerin )
Place another mixing glass filled with the distilled water in the pot. Heat the water phase up to 75 degrees like the fat phase. Both have to have the same temperature to emulsify. Now give the water phase part by part to the fat phase while mixing with the hand blender. Mix for 1-3 min until you have a white milk alike mixture. Now stear with a wooden spoon until the mixture is hand warm. Fill it in a cosmetic container and let it cool down.
When cooled down mix in a few drops of your favourite essential oils ( I used lavernder and geranium) you can also add 3 gr rokonsal to preserve it longer.

  1. Whoa!! that's what I was searching for, what a stuff! I treat my body to hydrate with Sakare's body lotions. My friends are also trying this.
